Bufab

Thesis: Development of a Supplier Sustainability Manual for Bufab

Background:

Bufab is a global supplier of fasteners and technical components with a strong focus on sustainability and ethical business practices. We are now looking for two driven students to develop a supplier manual (Supplier Sustainability Manual) to support our suppliers in their sustainability efforts. The thesis will be carried out at our headquarters in Värnamo, but remote work can be discussed. We also offer reimbursement for travel expenses.

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the thesis is to create a practical manual that our suppliers can use to improve their sustainability practices, including reducing carbon emissions, responsible material sourcing, and labor rights issues. The goal is for the manual to serve as a tool for suppliers to meet Bufab's sustainability requirements and thereby strengthen our supply chain.

Problem formulation

How can we develop a supplier manual that easily and effectively guides our suppliers to meet our high sustainability standards? How can the manual help suppliers improve their processes and ensure they meet both local and global sustainability requirements?

Method

Students will collect data by interviewing key personnel within Bufab. The work will also include an analysis of sustainability requirements and standards (e.g., Bufab’s requirements, CSRD; CSDDD; ISO 14001; ISO 45001 as well as others) and designing simple and practical guidelines that can be implemented by our suppliers.

Expected result and how to use it

Bufab will use the thesis to provide our suppliers with a concrete tool to improve their sustainability efforts. The students will contribute to a real business need and assist us in our endeavor to create a more sustainable supply chain.
